Direkt neben dem Freiburger Hauptbahnhof gibt es einen türkisch geführten Frucht- und Saftladen. Hier kann man getrocknete Erdbeeren kaufen, ein prima Tagesgericht bekommen, und die Granatäpfel schneidet der junge Inhaber auf Wunsch schon fachgerecht vor. „Die sind aus meinem eigenen Garten“, sagt er stolz. „Na, gewissermaßen: aus der Türkei.“ Wie man von hier zum Theater kommt, wissen er und seine Frau auch. Dass an diesem Abend Mehmet Ali Alabora dort auftritt, ist ihnen aber neu. „Der ist hier?“ entfährt es der Ladenbetreiberin aufgeregt? „Da will ich auch hin!“ – „Haben das nicht die Grünen organisiert?“ fragt ihr Mann und wiegt anerkennend den Kopf: „Ist schon ein bekannter Mann, der Ali Alabora.“

The premiere of this documentary theatre project by Nina Gühlstorff and Nina Steinhilber took place in Heidelberg, Jan. 21, 2010. Here are some impressions of our premiere.

“They Call Me Jeckisch” is the first joint production of the Israeli-German theatre partnership between the Theater Heidelberg and Teatron Beit Lessin in Tel Aviv.  The premiere took place in Heidelberg, Jan. 21, 2010. This documentary project is based on real experiences and stories told by Israeli Jews of German descent. Here is what two of the participating actresses in this project – Ute Baggeröhr and Hadas Kalderon – experienced while travelling in Germany and Israel:
